Kiwaukee Thomas Re-Signed

Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com is reporting we have re-signed CB Kiwaukee Thomas to a multi year deal. The story can be read: here. This is excellent to hear, as I thought he was gone for sure. Thomas was a great nickle corner for us last year and could possbily start this year since we are unsure of who will next to Terrence. It's great to have Kiwaukee back on board.

Also: Free Agent DE, Bo Schobel, cousin of current Bill Aaron Schobel was in for a visit at One Bills Drive today.

Anthony Thomas Re-Signed

Well the news of the day is that Anthony Thomas will be back, reported on the official Buffalo Bills website by reporter Chris Brown here. According to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network Thomas' deal is 2 years for 2.8 million. Getting Anthony Thomas back is a key move, as he already knows the system and is still a pretty good back and even started a few games last year with us. His production will most definetly increase and I would assume he sees a good amount of time as our starter next season. The most reasonable plan, in my opinion, is to team A-Train up with a rookie back and we'll run a dual RB system much like what was done with Rhodes and Addai in Indianapolis last season. That worked out pretty well for them.

I'm planning a write up of some Running Backs I like from this draft class who I think we could consider drafting. I'll write what I think of them including comparisons, strengths, an weaknesses. Stay Tuned.

Dillon confusion

Yesterday the Boston Globe reported Corey Dillon cancelled his visit to Buffalo then last night Adam Schefter clarified this on NFL Total Access, citing Dillon would rather play for a team he feels has a chance at making the playoffs this year. Well today in a report from the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, they seem to have information that Corey Dillon is visiting today.

According to a Boston Globe reporter, Corey Dillon decided not to make the trip to Buffalo. So much for that then, I thought it would have been great to pickup a vet like Dillon and draft a rookie to replace McGahee. It seems like we'll have to back track and hope to sign Rhodes or Brown who previously visited and left without contracts or maybe work out a deal with our free agent, Anthony Thomas.

On the other side of things, our first defensive free agent visited today. Safety Kevin McCadam, a 6 year veteran formerly of the Falcons and Panthers. If we were to sign McCadam he would provide some solid depth in the secondary and very good special teams help.

McGahee Contract

McGAHEE DEAL: SEVEN YEARS, $40.12 MILLION
We're told that the Ravens and running back Willis McGahee are very close to agreeing on a seven-year deal worth $40.12 million.

As we previously explained, McGahee will receive $7.5 million to sign, an initial option bonus of $6 million, and a second option bonus of $1.5 million. The salaries are $595,000 in 2007, $605,000 in 2008, $620,000 in 2009, $3.6 million in 2010, $6.0 million in 2011, $6.5 million in 2012, and $7.2 million in 2013.

Since McGahee was due to earn $2.155 million in 2007, the deal is essentially a six-year extension worth $37.965 million.

If the Ravens cut McGahee before the back-end salaries kick in, he will earn a total of $20.42 million over four years.

Well it's official! ESPN is reporting the Bills and Ravens have come to a deal in which the Bills will send Willis McGahee to Baltimore for Baltimore's 3rd and 7th round pick this year and Baltimores 3rd round pick next year, which can be read here.

What a deal tough, two first day picks for McGahee? Wow, I would have been happy with one. Kudos to Marv for pulling this off! I wonder what kind of extension McGahee got from Baltimore, that should be interesting to see. Well at least McGahee's out of our hair and we no longer have to worry about that. It's time to move on and figure out whats next, with Corey Dillon in for a visit today that might not be long off.

In other news our FA corner Kiwuakee Thomas was in Detroit for a visit, this is a guy who I really want to see back in Buffalo but it dosen't seem likley.

It started off with an ESPN News report that said Baltimore was working very hard with Buffalo to aqquire McGahee.

Now Buffalo Bills lead journalist Chris Brown has hinted at a possible bidding war in his most recent blog entry:

LEWIS SIGNS W/BROWNS: With Jamal Lewis signing what is reportedly a one-year deal with Cleveland the Ravens have the door wide open for another back. Hopefully this compels Baltimore to give up what's being requested for a certain back's services before they miss out.

Willis McGahee could possibly be out of Buffalo by tommorows end.

Corey Dillon to visit

As per Rotoworld: The Buffalo Bills will host Free Agent RB, Corey Dillon(Patriots) this Thursday. After recently hosting Runningbacks Dominic Rhodes(Colts) yesterday, and Chris Brown(Titans) today and now Corey Dillon it seems as if the trade of Willis McGahee is bound to happen soon.

In 2006 Corey Dillon shared duty with Patriots rookie Laurence Maroney. Dillon carried the ball 199 times for a total of 812 yards, a 4.1 yards per carry average and scored 13 times.
